On Thursday 19 November 2026 at 7:30pm, the pianist Lily Akane gives a solo charity recital at St George's Hanover Square in Mayfair in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust. Entry is free, with complimentary tickets booked through TicketSource and voluntary donations welcomed through her JustGiving page.
The programme
The evening moves from Classical sonata form to late-Romantic virtuosity and French impressionism. It opens with the first movement of Mozart's Piano Sonata No. 18 in D major, K. 576, followed by Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 23 in F minor, Op. 57 ('Appassionata'). The middle of the recital pairs Maurice Ravel's Jeux d'eau with Cécile Chaminade's concert étude Automne (Op. 35 No. 2), before closing with Chopin's Scherzo No. 2 in B flat minor, Op. 31, and Franz Liszt's La Campanella from the Grandes études de Paganini.
The performer and the cause
Lily Akane holds two piano diplomas and is preparing for her LRSM (Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music) diploma later this year. She has organised the recital to raise funds and awareness for Teenage Cancer Trust (registered charity 1062559 in England and Wales, SC039757 in Scotland), which funds and builds specialist units in NHS hospitals and provides dedicated staff so that young people aged 13 to 24 diagnosed with cancer can be treated together by teenage cancer specialists.
