This is a calendar of organised events from late 2026 to early summer 2027 that a new Londoner might consider. Where an organiser has not published a 2027 date, we write "dates TBC - check organiser" rather than guess. It is a selection, not a complete list, and we have not ranked anything. If you are looking for a club to train with first, read our guide to running and triathlon clubs.

Cross-country

The Met League is a winter cross-country league for runners aged 10 and over, with clubs from London, Essex, Hertfordshire and Middlesex. Its site lists five fixtures from October to February; the first was on 10 October 2026 at Claybury. The remaining four are below. Clapham Chasers' site also lists the London Cross Country Championships on 7 November 2026 at Parliament Hill (NW5 1QR). We could not confirm dates for the 2027 Southern and National Cross Country Championships, so they are TBC - check organiser.

London Marathon 2027 and the ballot

London Marathon Events states that the 2027 race, the Double TCS London Marathon, takes place over two days: Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 April 2027. The 2027 ballot has already closed, and results were sent on 9 July 2026. The organiser still lists charity places, Good for Age and Championship entry, and a virtual marathon option. When the ballot for the following race opens has not been published, so ballot dates are TBC - check organiser; the ballot page is the place to watch.

The organiser also lists the TCS Mini London Marathon on Friday 23 April 2027. It is a schools event from Horse Guards Parade to The Mall, so it is a spectating option rather than an entry for most adults.

10K races

The Cancer Research UK Winter Run is the main 10k we could confirm on an organiser's page for this period, and the Hackney weekend includes a 10k on the Friday night. London Marathon Events' Vitality London 10,000 falls later, on 26 September 2027, outside this window. Local clubs and park-based organisers publish their own 10ks; ask your club, and watch club pages for championship dates.

Out of town, 1 to 2 hours by train

If you want a weekend away, these events are outside London but within reach by train. They are listed in date order, with the same treatment for each.
