London Fashion Week September 2026

Dates, the designers on the schedule, and the parts of the week anyone can join.

London Fashion Week (LFW) returns from Thursday 17 to Monday 21 September 2026. The British Fashion Council (BFC), which organises the week, published the provisional schedule on 20 July 2026. Designers show their Spring/Summer 2027 collections, so what walks in London this September is what reaches shops next year.

This season is notable for two returns. McQueen comes back to the London schedule with Seán McGirr’s London debut for the house, and Mulberry returns under creative director Christopher Kane, who presents his first collection for the brand.

Who is on the schedule

Returning British houses

• McQueen, with Seán McGirr’s London debut, showing both men’s and womenswear SS27 collections.
• Mulberry, presenting Christopher Kane’s debut collection for the house.
• Barbour, Burberry, Emilia Wickstead, Erdem, Harris Reed, Richard Quinn, Roksanda and Simone Rocha, described by the BFC as returning British icons.

Vanguard and emerging designers

• Aaron Esh, Ashley Williams, Chopova Lowena, KNWLS and Paolo Carzana show as vanguard designers.
• Francesca Lake, Gui Rosa and Petra Fagerström make their LFW debut as recipients of BFC NEWGEN, in partnership with Pull&Bear.
• Charlie Constantinou, E.W.Usie, Liza Keane, OCTI, Oscar Ouyang, Pauline Dujancourt, The Ouze and Yaku return as NEWGEN recipients.
• Fashion East returns to the schedule, after the BFC committed further investment in the talent support scheme.
• Birmingham City University presents a showcase, part of the BFC’s aim to highlight emerging talent from across the UK.

New to the schedule

British menswear label Geordie Campbell, Joyce Bao, Indian label Lovebirds and demi-couture brand Onalaja join the official schedule for the first time.

Shows that break the catwalk format

Several names this season are staging something other than a conventional runway. ArtCulture reads the season as a visual-arts event rather than a trade one:

• J.L-A.L debuts its SS27 collection as an immersive presentation, followed by an afterparty for the release of its collaboration with Puma.
• 5000, the American designer-in-residence at the Paul Smith Foundation, unveils a new collection through an immersive sound bath.
• Marks & Spencer makes its LFW debut with its first exclusive runway collection: a "see now, buy now" edit of womenswear and menswear marking the brand’s centenary.
• H&M works with photographer Nick Knight and SHOWstudio on a special event.
• eBay brings back Endless Runway, LFW’s pre-loved runway show, shoppable via eBay Live. It opens on Thursday 17 September, followed by daily streams from 180 Strand.
• Dover Street Market hosts a jewellery showcase in store, and Selfridges highlights LFW brands in store with a curated edit of British designers.

Can the public attend London Fashion Week?

Most headline catwalk shows are for press, buyers and invited guests, so there is no general ticket that gets you into them. The week still has a lot that is open to anyone, much of it through Fashion Britain, the BFC’s new programme launching this September. Fashion Britain events in London

The BFC lists these London highlights, with more to be announced:

• National Gallery: a BFC x ELLE UK National Designer Panel with Saul Nash, Clio Peppiatt and Luke Derrick, moderated by ELLE UK editor-in-chief Kenya Hunt.
• Westfield London and Westfield Stratford City: fashion and music experiences curated by Tolu Coker and Priya Ahluwalia.
• East Bank: The Music Is Black Festival, Black to the Future, curated by FLOHIO and The Blues Project.
• The Truman Brewery: Saul Nash’s Masquerade in Residence.
• Chelsea Arts Festival: a celebration bringing culture and fashion together.
• Further events from Rejina Pyo, JW Anderson, MAX&Co x Paloma le Friant, Harris Reed x Missoma and Simone Rocha x Harvey Nichols.

Mulberry is also livestreaming its show, Christopher Kane’s debut, at its Regent Street store on Sunday 20 September. The eBay streams from 180 Strand and the Selfridges in-store edit are the other easy ways to see the season’s clothes without an invitation.

Fashion Britain beyond London

Fashion Britain is the BFC’s attempt to spread the industry’s attention beyond the capital. The programme runs to more than 1,000 events across Bristol, Dundee, Edinburgh, Liverpool, London, Manchester and Newcastle, with flagship events at V&A Dundee, the National Gallery, Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, the Walker Art Gallery, Manchester Art Gallery, M Shed and East Bank. It sits within the BFC’s Strategy 2030, built around access, creativity and growth. VisionaryArt looks at what the season looks like from outside London.

Laura Weir, the BFC’s chief executive, describes Fashion Britain as "about decentralising fashion".

A short history of London Fashion Week

The British Fashion Council was established in 1983, and the first London Fashion Week followed in 1984. That first edition took place in the car park of the Commonwealth Institute in Kensington, with 15 catwalk shows including Vivienne Westwood, Ghost and Betty Jackson.

LFW has moved often since. Somerset House hosted it from 2009 until 2015. From February 2017 it was based at 180 Strand, until February 2020. Since the pandemic the BFC has run a mix of physical and digital shows, held at venues across the city rather than in one official space. In September 2018 London became the first major fashion week to go fur-free.

London is one of the "big four" fashion weeks, with New York, Milan and Paris. Its schedule gives a large share of places to young designers, which is why the NEWGEN and Fashion East names matter as much as the big houses.

Planning your week

September is London’s busiest month for the creative industries. The London Design Festival runs from 12 to 20 September 2026, overlapping with LFW. Frieze Sculpture opens free to the public in The Regent’s Park on 16 September, and London Sculpture Week follows from 19 to 27 September. The London BGTC Society’s view

For our members, LFW is a meeting point of design, media, retail and investment. For five days, people from all of them are in the same city, at the same shows and parties. This year’s mix of returning houses, a large NEWGEN group and retail names such as Marks & Spencer and eBay shows how the industry now sells and speaks to its public, and not only how it designs.
